Our commitment to keep up with new technologies in the metallurgical
testing and inspection field has lead our firm toward a most
comprehensive array of services to offer our clients. From elemental
analysis of steel to welders qualifications to non-destructive
testing, ITL has the industry certified and qualified technicians to
assure our clients’ compliance to building codes and job
specifications. We’ve been longstanding members of the American
Welding Society and a Certified Welding Inspection Agency for the
New York City Department of Buildings. Our technicians perform
inspections throughout the United States in steel fabrications shops
to assure compliance with all local testing standards and
requirements. |

Torqueing
of high strength bolts with calibrated torque wrenches is only one
facet of our inspections., Visual inspection s of welds, welders
qualifications, plumbing of structural members, and engineering
services are routine functions for our laboratory. All the above is
performed in conjunction with our other services as outlined on this
web site. Calibration of contractors impact wrenches is performed in
the field using our own Skidmore-Owens calibration equipment. Our
laboratory maintains the necessary calibration equipment to
calibrate contractors torque wrenches and skidmores. |

Surface flaw detections of
Ferro-magnetic materials are performed using penetrants and
developers. Applications can be performed in our laboratory or in
the field as required. Oil base and or water base penetrants are
used in accordance with clients specific requirements. Applications
include: searching for flaw detection in existing structure
analysis, parts for use in the aircraft industry, and military
procurement contracts. All inspections are conducted by ITL
certified technicians. |

Elemental
Analysis of metals is performed in our own facility. Computerized
state-of-theart testing equipment maintains our leadership for
accuracy in testing and reporting of test results. With the use of
our HGA furnace, many test results of elements can be reported in
parts per billion (PPB). Additional equipment capabilities include
wear metal analysis in oils, paint, waste water, pharmaceutical,
industrial, forensic and environmental testing. |

Wet and dry method technologies are used
by our Non-Destructive Testing technicians for in-house inspection
for discontinuities and flaw detection of smaller size part (as
shown). Larder parts and structural members, including welds, are
tested using portable (powered) equipment and yokes in the field.
Our testing is performed in compliance with AWS, ASME, and ASNT
codes as may be required. |

|
Testing is performed at either the
fabrication shop, construction site or our testing facility by
verified non-destructive testing technicians for the inspection of
full-penetration and butt welds. ITL has numerous types of
laboratory and field test equipment so as to test under the most
difficult field situations and limited accessibility conditions. We
maintain an inventory of special designed transducers which can
assist in performing inspections previously thought impractical.
Portable Ultrasonic Thickness Detectors enable us to inspect the
wall thickness of active steam pipes, various metals, and report
results on a digital readout to an accuracy of .001 inch. |
